Born and raised on the picturesque island of Sri Lanka, Viren Anthonisz, the founder of 4Planet, witnessed the alarming impact of single-use plastic bottles firsthand. Working in the inbound tourism industry for several years, Viren saw how tour operators, destination management companies, and hotels handed out single-use plastic bottles to their guests. With around 2 million tourists visiting annually at the time, the sheer volume of discarded plastic was staggering. 

One day, while seeing the stacks of single-use plastic, Viren realized he needed to take action. He envisioned a solution to reduce plastic pollution and promote sustainability. This was the birth of 4Planet, founded in November 2019. The brand was dedicated to creating custom-manufactured reusable stainless-steel bottles for tour operators, destination management companies, and hotels in Sri Lanka. Instead of giving guests countless plastic bottles, the industry stakeholders could now offer a single reusable bottle that guests could use throughout their stay and take home as a keepsake. This simple yet impactful idea promised to significantly reduce plastic waste during their holiday and beyond. 

Although 4Planet started with a focus on the tourism industry, we now also work with corporates, brands, and have a big focus on individual customers through the retail market. While we do custom-branded bottles for the tourism industry, corporates, and other brands, a big value add of our products is that we offer personalized bottles for individual customers too. We have currently partnered and worked with over 100 brands and businesses. Recently, we expanded our operations into the Maldives, furthering our mission to reduce plastic waste in more regions.
